I got this amazing silk last August when I was designing the collection. I'm so happy to finally have it in the shop. It's pretty thick so it holds well but still drapes like a dream. When I found this wool, I fell in love! I love this watercolor flower print, and this wool is so light so I had to make a flowy skirt with it! I also lined it with satin so it doesn't stick to your tights, oh ya and it has pockets. What else can you ask for, except that it also comes in green! The Hurricane skirt is 125$ and it's worn here with the School Days top 75$.

I've never been a big fan of the color red but lately I've been loving this cranberry color. It goes with so many things, I especially love it with nudes and peaches.

This season is all about textures. Here are pieces that all have some kind of interesting thread in the weave of the fabric, most commonly known as a bouclé!

The Sweetest Kill dress, is made of this beautiful angora yarn. This long sleeve dress is gonna be perfect to keep you cozy as the colder nights approach. I can`t wait to wear it with a jean jacket! (we also have it in a simple black) 125$ Oh ya and there`s POCKETS!

The heartbreaker dress is made of cotton with a silk bouclé. Slipping this dress on is really something! Perfect for a fall wedding or a night out with the girls. 175$

The Harvest Moon top was ins pired by the classic 50`s sweater. It`s a drop shoulder with a lovely boatneck and a scoop in the back. 75$. So I don't want to freak you guys out by showing you some new styles, but the reality is that it's time for me to start bringing in a new collection. Just for fun we'll call it pre-fall because all of these pieces can be worn on a cool summer night.

When I started designing this collection I knew I wanted it to look effortless without loosing the feminine shape of my pieces. I decided to start with the shoulder, I went with a drop shoulder on almost all the pieces. You will notice as I post more pieces that the sleeves never start at the proper shoulder. The other thing I did with this collection is use a lot of knits. The collection is full of texture! I can't wait to wear it and I hope you guys will like it to. I always try to outdo myself and I feel with this collection, I did!

(All of these pieces will be hitting the racks Friday, if they haven't already!)

This is an amazing Italian stretch velvet with sequins.

Cherry Bomb top 65$. This cotton/poly/lurex blend mix crop top is the perfect transition piece.

The Dreamland top (55$) is offered in a gray wool/acrylic blend and an Italian cotton/poly blend.

It has an elastic at the hem so it can be worn long to the hips or brought up to the waist.

The Heart in a Cage dress 120$, is also an Italian Cotton/Poly blend, it's so cozy I can't even describe it!

I'm having so much fun getting ready for summer that I keep wearing these dresses and always have to put a cardigan over them, well that's spring in Montreal!

As per usual I love working with different creative people and I loved his idea! I just got the video and I'm super happy with what he did! These are my top 5 worst looks from the Golden Globes. I feel bad but what we're they thinking!!!

I've never been a fan of Christina's style but this look is one of her worst cause for once she looks like she was trying to be classy but completely failed and looks more like a stripper who just one the lottery

Ah Mandy Moore. I loved her in Saved! and in Entourage but here when I started thinking she wasn't so tacky, she decides to wear this really bad bridesmaids dress on the red carpet!

Not only do I don't get why Halle Berry is considered to be such a sex symbol but this dress completely ruins one of my favorite trends of the moment. (sheer maxi skirts)

I usually love Christina Hendricks style. She's one of the only curvy women who wears clothes well in Hollywood but why would someone with such big boobs put a huge flower on it!

Oh J.Lo (can we still call her that) I don't even get this one... This dress looks like something a girl bought off the sales rack on St-Hubert street for her civil ceremony.

Here at Lustre we love everything from Headmistress. Jillian works very hard at bringing new and original head pieces. We just got a new order in store, just in time for the Holidays!

For the first time we have the Vintage fur headbands. I love these cause not only do they look great but they're very useful. The fur headband at only 65$ keep your ears warm all winter. We have them in 3 different colors!
We brought some new headdresses as well. These perfectly fit the head, I love how the feathers don't just stick right up but fall down and look more like a hat. (65$)
And our most popular style from her, the hippie stretch bands at only 25$ can be worn higher up as a head band or lower on the forehead. We have more then 10 different colors in stock.

Here are a few styles I've been working on for the last couple of weeks for the Holiday season. It's pretty obvious I'm having a slight obsession with metallics...

Here's the Tin Angel dress (125$), not only is it sequins but it's leopard, you'll definitely get noticed at any holiday party!

This lace has a great geometrical metallic design on it. I also lined it with a gray vintage lingerie fabric. This is a great party dress for the Holidays but will also look great this Spring with a jean jacket! (130$)

And then you all know how much I love separates. When I saw this denim I fell in love. The metallic snakes skin print is amazing!!! Hong Kong garden skirt 80$ and Someday Soon top 55$.

Peaceful easy feeling top (75$). Well the name says it all, this drop shorter top is made of a chenille with an acrylic thread that resembles those amazing mohair sweaters that your grandma had!

So much to my dislike the weather has turned for the worst, the days have gotten shorter and the nights much cooler. But don't worry cause I've been working on some new tops to keep us all warm during the next few months without having to give up feeling like a girl!

So for the Fall collection I had picked up this amazing faux leather from Italy that draped like a dream and with it I made the Superstar skirt seen below!

I can't wait for these skirts to come into the shop , they're planned on arriving early September. What I want to know from you is why do we always want to go for real leather when most of us would never wear real fur! Isn't it the same?

So I went to see a show last night and I wanted to share the experience with you. If you ever have the chance to see any or all of the acts please do yourself a favor and do so!

If you have read anything about any of these acts (Jason Collett, Zeus or Bahamas) then you know that these guys have been playing music together for years but what you don't know is that they are all so talented that they have produced music baby's . What was once one band is now 3 which makes for one of the coolest shows I've ever seen! Playing all together and taking turns performing each others songs! One great singer songwriter after the next! Something not to be missed!

My favorite dress!

So this season I've been doing things a little bit differently. The collection has gotten bigger and I've been trying to take a bit of time to make one of a kind ( sometimes 2 )dresses that are a bit dressier and involve a lot more hand stitching and detail then my regular Lustre dresses. We could call this line Lustre Gold????

In the last 2 days, I created this dream of a dress it's 3 layers of a vintage lingerie fabric with about 60 hand made chiffon flowers that were also hand stitched onto the dress. Really i made it for prom season but I would get married in it! ... If I were to get married...

Spring is finally here!

When I was designing my FW2010 line I had to stop myself from every piece being made in some kind of velvet. Even the jacquard I used has a chenille thread that makes it soft mixed in with the silk!

But now that NY fashion week is over I'm happy to say that velvet is in! As most of you guys and gals know I'm not one to follow trend, I can't help to do what my gut forces me to do. And even then, it's not my gut it's more like this obsession that comes over me. Sometimes though I'm not following the same obsessions or trends as the rest of the world and then it hurts my business. But I have to say, in this case Velvet was a good idea!!!

I was so excited to see the ss2010 Vivienne Westwood collection today. I've been so inspired by her not only by her creations but her life. Not only did she invent the Punk look, she started with nothing. Went from teaching in an elementary school to opening the coolest shop in London.

As a designer, I'm kind of against the idea of trend. I never look at what other designers are doing before I start a new collection, I just go follow my gut, just what I feel should be going on.

Vivienne has always done that, she does what she does, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't but her point of you is always obvious.

All that to say, I love her ss2010 collection, it's one of my favorites in a while. I love the styling, love the mix of prints, I love the hair and most of all I love Vivienne!

Music is my key to success!

So music is probably the thing that inspires me the most. Not only because when we think of a particular song we can picture the time in which it was written but mostly just by the way a song can make me feel.

When I start working on a collection, before I even have bought the fabric or started sketching I have to put myself in a mood. The first thing that I need to create that mood is music. So around that time I will start obsessing on a genre or an era.

When I was designing the fall collection last February, I was listening none stop to The Replacements, Billy Bragg, Hole and Sonic Youth. These are all bands that have shaped who I am today because that's what I listened to growing up but this time, it felt different. Maybe it's cause I'm older, maybe it's cause I finally understand the feeling that these artist had when they created their work. But all I know is that without these albums who knows what my collection would have looked like.

So I haven't been around for a while due to an insane amount of work at the shop, wholesale expanding and trying to find a new and better location for the Lustre headquarters.

Anyways, enough excuses and let's talk fashion!

Lately I've been obsessed with black. I know it doesn't seem like the most original thing but for all of you guys/ladies that know me and the Lustre brand know that I've always been attracted to bright patterns and colors, so it's a new addiction.

I also use the word addiction because I can't stop. Some of my friends have even been making fun of me and calling me a goth! I don't know how long this is gonna last but it has forced me to produce some great fall " little black dresses".

My New favorite dress, I added the Nite Klub dress to the shop last week and I've already worn mine twice. These lace dresses are awesome because not only are they lace but they're lined with the most comfortable cotton jersey!(available at Lustre/Sweet Pea in Halifax)

Spring's getting pretty !

We know it's still a little cold out there. But this morning, sunshine burst into my room and I'm sure I heard the little chickadees outside my window telling me to get ready with some fresh new outfits because Spring is about to bloom. Perfect timing cos Yasmine just put out 3 of her favorite pieces from the Spring collection.

All hail to the Aztec Queen

So here's one of my favorite fabrics from the Spring collection. This fabric is imported from France and is made of 65% Linen and 35% Viscose. It's so soft and machine washable which is always a bonus. And now it's arrived at our Lustre headquarters on St-Laurent in the form of this wonderful skirt. We've started bringing a lot of new pieces , the racks of wool are disappearing and slowly being replaced by cotton and Linen.

We still have some good finds on our 50%OFF racks so take a little time and think of yourself and come down and visit me.

Yes it's still winter outside but who says you can't wear this gorgeous acid wash print skirt. I brought this fabric in from France and it's sooooooo unique. One of the softest denim that I've ever seen. And the perfect print, soft enough to pair with another print or as always one of your boyfriends rock t-shirts.

Definetely a white Christmas

So Christmas has finally arrived. Woke up this morning to come open the store before I start going from place to place for the next couple of days to eat a whole lot. I look outside just to see that we have just received another 10ish centimeters of snow. A white Christmas indeed. In the past 10 years I recall a couple Christmas's without snow. But the last two years we've def. made up for it.

With the Holiday season starting but in a way for us ending. I'm put in the weird place where I have to design for the next season ,even though all I want to make right now is super cozy and warm pieces yet I'm berried in pastel prints of linen and cotton.

As usual though I'm still going to make a couple of super wintery stuff. I just designed these wool tunics that are really warm and can be worn as a shirt or a dress. I'll post pictures of them when the buttons are on next week. In January, I will have couple new things but not as much as usual since today's fashion industry has made it very clear that you must be on sale after Christmas. Makes sense, but there's liker 2 or 3 more months of winter and that leaves me lots of time to offer you some more goodies.

Either then that, we're doing our first campaign shoot on January 4th in a barn with Ducks and Alpaca's. I'm really looking forward to that. It's so exciting to create an editorial look with my designs that I create for the everyday girl.

Anyways, I'll be showing all of you my new designs throughout the next couple of weeks. Give me your opinions, I'd love to hear it.

Every designer today needs some kind of representation from someone in the arts/entertainment world. People always ask me who I would see wearing my designs. It's been a hard question for me to answer, since I usually design thinking of icons of the past but Zooey Deschanel, I feel, represents my line perfectly. She is like a modern day Linda Ronstadt. A girl who is timeless, it's hard to tell from which decade she's in but in a weird way this decade suits her.
